Vera Prechtel studied law at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and passed her first law exam in 2021. During her studies she already focussed on criminal law; she completed her Major in criminal sciences with an overall grade of "very good". In 2022 she completed her doctorate with a thesis on commercial criminal law; while writing her doctoral thesis, she worked as a research assistant at a boutique law firm specialising in commercial and tax criminal law in Munich and lectured in criminal law and public law at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Following her doctorate, she completed her legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Nuremberg. She gained practical experience by working in an international commercial law firm in Düsseldorf and continued to work as a research assistant in the field of criminal law. She has been admitted to the bar since 2023 and works as a criminal defence lawyer in a law firm in Nuremberg that specialises exclusively in criminal law.
