Rupert Klieber
Klieber studied History and Theology in Salzburg and Vienna. Since 1998 he is teaching as an Extraordinary Professor of Church History at the University of Vienna. Prominent fields of his research apply to political Catholicism in Austria and religious aspects of its social history. Current projects are devoted to newly opened source material from the Vatican Secret Archives concerning the papal reign of Pius XI and Austria as well as extended biographical studies regarding ecclesiastical elites of the Habsburg Empire that are realized in cooperation with teams of historians from Hungary, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.
