Oliver Remien

Oliver Remien studied law in Hamburg and Geneva. Between 1982 and 2000, he was an scientific assistent and referent to Ulrich Drobnig at the Max-Planck-Institute for foreign and international private law and, between 1982 – 1990, secretary of the »Commission on European Contract Law« (Lando-Group) 1982-1990. He received a Ph.D. summa cum laude with his work »Rights enforcement through astreintes«. After his habilitation in 2000, he held the Chair of Civil Law, European Business Law, International Private and Procedural Law, and Comparative Law from 2001 until his retirement in 2023. Oliver Remien died in Vienna in April 2023.
