Oliver Auge studied history and Latin philology in Tübingen. After his promotion in 2001, he worked as a research assistant at the department for general history of the Middle Ages and historical auxiliary sciences at the University of Greifswald until 2007; he completed his habilitation in spring 2008. This was followed by interim professorships in Greifswald and Göttingen and by an employment as a research assistant at the SFB 537 in Dresden. Since 2009, he is professor for regional history with a focus on the history of Schleswig-Holstein during the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period at the University of Kiel. In 2013 and 2016, he declined offers from the Universities of Salzburg and Greifswald. He is managing editor of the »Jahrbuch für Regionalgeschichte«.
