Peter M. Huber

Peter M. Huber studied law at the Universities of Munich and Geneva from 1979 to 1984. He passed the Second State Examination in 1987, received his PH.D from the Law Faculty of the LMU Munich in the same year and habilitated in 1991 with a book on competitors´ protection in administrative law. Peter M. Huber has chairs at the Universities of Augsburg (1991/92), Jena (1992/2001), Bayreuth (2001/02) an at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Unierity of Munich sinche 2002. From 1995 to 1998 he was a member of the Commission of the Bundestag »Overcoming the consequences of the SED dictatorship in the process of German unity« and served as judge at the Thuringian Higher Administrative Court from 1996 to 2002: From 1998 to 2008 he was Chairman of the German Law Faculties´ Association and from 2002 to 2009 member of the Commission for the Control of Media Concentration (KEK), since 2008 its chairman. He also was a member of the Joint Commission for the Modernization of the Federal Order of ›Bundestag‹ and ›Bundesrat‹ and served as an expert in several Parliamentary Commissions. From 2007 to 2009 he also was a member of the State Court of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. From 2009 to 2010, Peter M. Huber was Minister of the Interior of the Free State of Thuringia and was elected by the ›Bundestag‹ as a Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court, where he was responsible for international and European law, federal-state disputes and municipal law. His term expired in January 2023.
