Gisela Borchers

Gisela Borchers, née Engler, was born in 1942 in Preußisch Stargard, West Prussia. In March 1945, she fled with her family from West Prussia to the West and grew up in Wilhelmshaven. After she finished working as a chemical engineer and running a farm with her husband Walter Borchers, she began studying history and political science at the Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in 2002, graduating with an M.A. in 2007. In 2008, she began her doctoral studies; the disputation took place in January 2013 (doctoral supervisor: Prof. Dr. Matthias Weber, Oldenburg). Receipt of the doctoral certificate in July 2014. Gisela Borchers is widowed and has two sons.
