Bernd Schneidmüller

Bernd Schneidmüller holds the chair in medieval history at Heidelberg University. He is director of its Marsilius-Kolleg (Institute of Advanced Study) and member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (vice-president 2014 to 2016). In 2014 he was an invited visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.

His fields of interest focus the history of medieval Europe, medieval processes of integration and disintegrations as well as migrations and hybridity in medieval societies. His publications include six monographs, more than 35 edited volumes, and about 200 articles.

He is a co-editor of the »Zeitschrift für Historische Forschung« since 1995.
