»Servitium Catechetae. A legal Classification of the Lay Service of Catechist in the Light of the Motu Proprio Antiquum Ministerium«: The lay service of catechist, as introduced by the Motu Proprio ›Antiquum Ministerium‹, attributes great importance to the laity in fulfilling the mission of evangelization. In order to define clearly the canonical status of this service, and so enable it to develop its potential, the concepts of ›office‹ and ›service‹ need to be defined in canonical terms as does the understanding of the nature of the ecclesiastical office within the context of its historical development and within the framework of the current Canon law, including an analysis of the so-called ›catechistae‹ in cc. 776, 780 and 785 CIC/1983.
