A Constitutional Examination of Existing and Possible Legal Regulations«: Based on the rulings of the ECHR on the general bans on face covering in public, the dissertation examines both the constitutionality of partial bans on face covering in Germany, and whether a general ban would be constitutional. Following the principle of »vivre ensemble«, it comes to the conclusion that a general ban could be based on the protection of an external social environment of open communication as a constitutional requirement derived from the principle of democracy.
