This volume deals with the crisis of academic economics in the German language area at the beginning of the 20th century. It provides ample evidence with regard to controversies in the German Economics Association, the participation of economists in German war planning, and the decline of economics at the University of Vienna. Other chapters draw attention to outsiders, such as Rathenau, Stillich and von Charasoff, who at the time made relevant contributions to economic thinking.
