»The Ordonnance de la Marine and the French Insurance practice. The Development of Insurance Contract Law in France from the Guidon de la Mer to the Code de Commerce«: Being part of the ERC-funded project »CHILE«, the study examines the influence of the insurance practice on the first insurance contract law in France. Thus, the research focused on the ›Ordonnance de la marine‹ from 1681 and the precedent French marine insurance contracts. The results of the study established an evident influence of these previous insurance policies on the content of the legal regulations of the ›Ordonnance de la marine‹ and the following ›Code de commerce‹ from 1807.
