»The Urban Development Promotion Act 1971 – Urban Development and Economic Policy in the Area of Conflict between the Federal Government, the Länder and the Municipalities«: The Urban Development Promotion Act (Städtebauförderungsgesetz, StBauFG) was implemented from 1971 onwards in the model of cooperative federalism and as a joint programme of the federal and state governments. One of its special features was that it explicitly included the municipal level for this purpose. The work deals with the impact and implementation history of the law in its origin, basic structures and amendments. Its state activity and involvement in economic policy are examined, as well as in particular the role and interests of the municipal level in its implementation.
