In our modern world there are many concentration processes in all fields. The citizens have the impression – even in a democratic state – that they can participate in elections, but they cannot really influence the political decisions. The principle of subsidiarity, formulated by the Christian social teaching, reminds us, that even in our present society the human person remains the source of inspiration and of responsibility in the state as well as in the smaller communities.
